Merey hissey ka aasma
The swimming pool in our society is nestled between two residential towers. Thus while you are in the swimming pool, only a small piece of the sky is visible …Merey hissey ka aasma, as I call it.
This little piece of sky is the most fascinating palette of my swimming regime and backstrokes gradually became my favorite.
The view of this little piece of sky has an amazing calming effect. Birds, butterflies and insects of various hues and sizes busily busy with their morning chores, crisscrossing that little piece of my sky, gives meaning to every lap that I take.
The most fascinating part are the contrails and the
aircrafts that fly by at different heights and of different make. At times they
even appear as white dots floating by. Mostly, I loose count of them.
Gradually I have realized that I come to the pool more for
this little piece of sky... rather than for any other health benefits or
whatever.
But one fine day, although the birds and the butterflies
continued to be in the best of their spirits, the contrails and the aircrafts
flying by were nowhere to be seen. A strange sense of loneliness brewed within
me. We were nearly at war. Airports were shut. The only once in a while aircraft,
if at all, that would traverse my little piece of sky were the military ones.
Every morning my eyes would longingly search for those micro
white moving dots high above. But of no avail.
And then lo... Once again, my little piece of sky above the
swimming pool has become abuzz with contrails and those little white dots
floating by.
Merry hissey ka aasma... is normal once again....and
backstrokes still remain my favourite.
